Amarillo rock climbing House
A belayer is the safety person on the ground to whom the climber is roped. He or she catches or lowers the climber. A belayer is required for any top rope climbing. We offer a belay class to anyone aged 13 and older who would like to learn this skill.
Do I need any special equipment?
No special equipment is needed to boulder though you might find climbing shoes beneficial. For top roping, you will need a harness, carabiner, and belay device.
All equipment is available for rent.
Do I need to make a reservation?
If this is your first time coming to a climbing gym and you feel you will need some instruction, please make a reservation for groups of 4 or more. Otherwise, no reservation is needed.
Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yes. If you are going to participate in any activities at ARCH you will need to sign a waiver first. For participants under the age of 18, a waiver must be signed by a LEGAL GUARDIAN.
Who can sign the waiver?
Anyone under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or legal guardian; babysitters, friends, activity directors or other family members do not count as legal guardians. If a waiver is not signed, participants cannot climb.
What should I wear?
Our dress code is pretty relaxed. We do advise you to wear temperature appropriate clothing. If you are going to be using a harness, you’ll probably want your shorts to be long enough to extend below the harness to avoid irritation.
